Domain names are registered on a “first come, first served” basis. For domains without a country code, filings are made through ICANN-regulated websites, while for “.tr” domains, the competent authority is the Information and Communication Technologies Authority. If the applicant's trade name differs from the domain applied for, a trademark filing/registration certificate must be provided. We file and track domain name applications on behalf of our clients.
Unfairly registered domains are often auctioned for very high prices or offered directly to the right holder. In some cases, the registration is used for unfair competition or disparaging uses that harm right holders.
In domain name disputes, complaints may be filed with WIPO under the UDRP rules published by ICANN, the competent authority on the internet.
Additionally, for “.tr” domains, objections may be filed within six months from the registration date before the DNS Working Group or the Dispute Resolution Board.
With our experienced team, we provide comprehensive services on domain name disputes.
